Daniel Craig vs James Bond

Our opinion

The only pre-Covid ad in our Top 10 has the unfortunate distinction of advertising a film which still hasn’t come out! Fortunately, it’s also advertising a beer which is very much still available, and Heineken takes the opportunity to have lots of fun with Craig (the actor) finding himself mistaken for Bond (the character) – though his drink of choice is certainly not the same.

With its celebrity star, beautiful locations, and scenes set in crowded bars full of stylish people, you could hardly imagine a more pre-Covid ad. Will the industry get back to this level of glamour and pizzazz? It will surely still take a while. But the 5-Star success of this ad is a reminder that there’s a particular type of escapist, fun commercial that people will still want to see on the other side of the pandemic
