James Gregory

Chief Executive Officer

As our sharp, driven CEO, James leads the Executive Team, setting and delivering the strategy for the business. James leads System1’s transformation into a platform business, focused on scaling the business to its full potential. James translates complexity into clarity, empowering the business to deliver world-class customer-focused solutions.

Prior to joining System1, James worked at HomeServe Plc as Chief of Staff, Tesco Plc as Online Director, and Capgemini Consulting. He brings 15 years of leadership experience in strategy and transformation, operations and commercial management across digital, distribution and online retail environments. Past roles involved scaling digital businesses, initiating and leading large scale, complex transformations, and delivering new customer propositions.

James is a highly motivated team leader and player. He’s passionate about talent development, understanding that the business can only be as good as the strength of its people. He supports his team on their journey to grow into their roles. James has strong communication and interpersonal skills developed through living and working in different cultures and languages across the UK, China and Europe.

At home, James’ wife and young family are his number one priority. When he has time he enjoys long-distance running. Never one to shy from a challenge (“I’m a bit competitive!!”) James loves to set a sporting goal and complete it. Endurance is his speciality and he’s completed an Ironman.

“I’m a strong believer in being people focused and values led. And simplification is always important – keep it simple and it works.”

Most fun moment at System1?

I really enjoyed being at Orlando’s book launch for “Look Out” held at The Shard in London. It was very cool. There was a great buzz to the event and the passion was really palpable. I knew there I was part of a business that really believes in something.

What did you want to be when you grew up?!

The captain of Nottingham Forest football team.
